Preparing lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides for laboratory use requires careful reconstitution. Proper technique helps protect molecular structure, reduces the likelihood of contamination, and allows for precise dosage control during experimentation. The following guide explains the essential concepts, materials, and best practices for reconstituting peptides in a research setting.
What Lyophilized Peptides Are
To improve stability and shelf life, most research peptides are supplied as a dry, freeze-dried powder. Before they can be used in experimental applications, the compound must be dissolved in an appropriate liquid carrierâmost commonly sterile or bacteriostatic water (which we offer in our product lineupâto form a uniform solution.
Supplies Checklist
Canada - sourced peptide (Retatrutide, BPC 157, KLOW, MOTS-C, etc.)
Sterile or bacteriostatic water
Sterile 31/32 gauge syringe or Auto-pen
Sterile needle (commonly 21â25 gauge)
70% isopropyl alcohol wipes
Vial containing lyophilized peptide
Personal protective equipment (gloves, lab coat, face covering)
Workspace Setup
Sanitize all work surfaces using 70% isopropyl alcohol and allow them to dry completely.
Arrange all materials before beginning to limit movement and exposure.
Wash hands thoroughly and put on appropriate protective gear.
Clean the vial stoppers on both the peptide and diluent containers with alcohol swabs.
Reconstitution Process
Measure and draw the required amount of bac water into the syringe. The volume selected should match the intended working concentration for your research protocol (determine using calculator linked below).
Insert the needle into the peptide vial and slowly introduce the liquid, directing it down the inner side of the vial rather than onto the powder itself. This helps prevent bubbling or structural stress.
Add the diluent gradually and avoid forcing liquid into the vial too quickly.
Once the liquid has been added, gently rotate the vial in a smooth circular motion. Avoid shaking, as excessive agitation can compromise peptide integrity. Always swirl - never shake.
Continue gentle mixing until the powder has fully dissolved and the solution appears clear.
We have provided a calculation tool above to assist you with dose calculations.
After Reconstitution
Clearly label the vial with the compound name, final concentration, and preparation date.
Place the reconstituted solution in refrigerated (not the freezer) storage unless the supplier provides alternative guidance.
If transferring the solution, ensure all receiving containers and tools are sterile and handled aseptically.
Key Points to Remember
Maintain sterile technique throughout the entire process.
Introduce diluent slowly to protect peptide structure.
Mix gentlyânever shakeâto preserve stability.
Proper labeling and cold storage help maintain solution quality over time.
